Frederick's Plan for Economic Growth Without Displacement Plan:
The 27th Ward once again can be the strong heartbeat of Chicago’s economy, but we cannot allow "economic growth" to mean "pricing out affordable housing for our 27th Ward community and all of the citizens of Chicago."
I will advocate and fight to change "The 20% Affordable Requirements City Ordinance (ARO) on all new housing developments in the West Loop, to 30%, ensuring that 30% of all new units are truly affordable for the people who work and live in our city and the 27th ward—our low-income families, our teachers, our servers, our college students, transit workers, law enforcement, and public safety workers.
Frederick's Plan for the 27th Ward Small Business Corridors:
I will work smartly and strategically with residents and local business owners of the 27th Ward to revitalize the Madison and Lake Street corridors in the western part of the ward. By using Tax Increment Financing (TIF) to provide grant money opportunities for local and minority-owned businesses.
Frederick's Fiscal Responsibility & Public Transit Improvement Plan:
As a hub for the Green, Pink, and Blue Lines, our ward depends on the CTA.
The "L" Modernization: We must advocate for the city to prioritize the Damen Green Line station and surrounding infrastructure. This isn't just a transit project; it's a fiscal investment that increases property values and business tax revenue without raising our personal tax rate.
